👪 How to Take Payment for Multiple Family Members Together

Does your practice treat several members of the same family? Now you can collect payment for them all together.

When a parent is settling their balance with your practice, it’s convenient for them to be able to take care of all their family members together in a single payment. Here’s how to do just that:

1. Navigate to the Patient’s Profile

If you aren’t already there, head over to the main page of the patient’s account. If you’re unsure how to do this, check out our guide: How to Find a Patient’s Profile.

  • It doesn’t matter which family member you decide to start with, you can add the rest of the family to the payment regardless.

2. Click the ‘Pay Balance’ Button

  • Under the ‘Charges’ sub-tab of the patient profile (which should be the tab you land on), find the bright blue ‘Pay Balance’ button and click it.

3. Click ‘Add a related patient’ in the Payment Window

  • Once the payment window opens, click the ‘+Add a related patient’ button to add a family member to the payment.

4. Select a Patient from the Dropdown Menu

  • In the new patient field that appears, type in a name, date of birth, or phone number to search for the patient you’d like to add to the payment. Then select the patient when their name appears in the dropdown.

Note: You can add as many patients as you like to a payment!

5. Outstanding Balances will Automatically be Filled In

  • Once you select an additional patient, their outstanding balance will automatically be populated into the pay amount field.
    • If you’d like to take payment for less than the total balance due, you have the option to edit the amounts before requesting payment.

6. Select a Payment Option

  • Choose whichever option your patient would prefer to pay by.

5. Click ‘Confirm’ to Initiate Payment

  • At the bottom of the window click the ‘Confirm’ button to kick off the payment.

And You’re All Set!

If you chose a payment method that sends a statement to the patient, they should receive that statement shortly. If you charged their credit card directly, the payment will take place immediately and you’ll have an option to send the patient a receipt by text message or email.
